I try to re-organize myself every fall by cleaning up my desk and buying myself a few fun new office accessories to keep motivated. I am having a hard time letting go of summer, so I can’t think of a better wake-up call then these bright pops of color that are around the marketplace right now. When I saw Andreas Samuelsson’s print it made me want to go back to elementary school and start playing with Spirographs. Poppin is a great company that has a variety of office basics in a rainbow assortment of colors. They were kind enough to send me this red notebook and these ballpoint pens which I love and have been happily using since. (Thanks, Poppin!) Good luck getting back to the grind!

I am playing catch up this week and am completely bogged down between work and personal life so I’ll resume with new posts next week. I have some Fall fashion picks lined up and some guest posts –  so stay tuned! In the meantime, check out this new Ikat tile from Ravenna Mosaics. How gorgeous would it be as an accent wall?

::: Supermarket Sarah ::: http://thisisluster.com/2011/08/01/supermarket-sarah/ http://thisisluster.com/2011/08/01/supermarket-sarah/#comments Mon, 01 Aug 2011 05:36:04 +0000 Luster http://thisisluster.com/?p=967536651

I just found out about this very interesting online store concept called Supermarket Sarah founded by Sarah Bagner, who left the corporate world behind to open her own shop. She lives around the corner from Portobello Road in London (where she also has a booth) and she creates a wall display of her items for sale which you can view, and then click on each individual item to purchase. The items are usually one of a kind, and often support independent designers. I love this new style of visual merchandising – what a cool idea. Check her out!

::: Tabletop Design Tool ::: http://thisisluster.com/2011/03/30/tabletop-design-tool/ http://thisisluster.com/2011/03/30/tabletop-design-tool/#comments Wed, 30 Mar 2011 20:40:25 +0000 Luster http://thisisluster.com/?p=967536008

Just got an email from Anthropologie about their new Tabletop Design Tool. They are hoping you’ll make a pattern or collage out of the items categorized by color groups, but it can be handy also if you want to just create a board out of your favorite pieces. Here are 2 separate boards I created very quickly, and placed side by side in Photoshop. They also have a hardware interactive tool if you’re shopping for knobs and hooks, and a whole list of other fun things to play around with here. What a perfect distraction from work.

::: Sophie Nova ::: http://thisisluster.com/2011/02/03/sophie-nova/ http://thisisluster.com/2011/02/03/sophie-nova/#comments Thu, 03 Feb 2011 05:00:59 +0000 Luster http://thisisluster.com/?p=967534828

One of the highlights of my year is attending the New York Gift Fair and being inspired by the amazing talent in the Accent on Design section of the show. My first stop is usually the award winning booth by Aesthetic Movement. They are a fiercely talented bunch with a carefully curated group of brands that typically fall under the category of my all time favorite designers and products. I am lucky enough to get to work with them occasionally since I design for one of the lines that they represent. It was great to see they have added Sophie Nova to their group. I have loved her metallic poufs carried by Calypso that I featured in the Gold Gift Guide, but was not aware she also had pillows, bookends and bags in her collection. I am smitten with her soft metallics and rich leather fabrics perfect for anyone who loves a little luster like I do.

{Y.I.H } Your initials here http://thisisluster.com/2010/08/26/your-initials-here/ http://thisisluster.com/2010/08/26/your-initials-here/#comments Thu, 26 Aug 2010 07:34:26 +0000 Luster http://thisisluster.com/?p=967533438 Maybe it’s my Connecticut upbringing, or crossing the line into matrimonial bliss, but I love monograms and always have. I think initials are so beautiful, especially when they adorn your everyday items.

Any time I visit a guest’s house, I am secretly delighted if I find monogrammed guest towels while visiting the powder room like the ones here in Lonny Mag. This particular applique style has been popping up a lot recently, and I have been trying to find the creator.

Here they are spotted again in Bazaar’s spread on Tommy Hilfiger’s home at the Plaza

After a lot of looking around, I finally found the source of these appliqué initials by Leontine Linens.

Been wanting a Goyard anything for years. I have such an appreciation for beautifully handcrafted travel accessories. Goyard allows you to customize with initials and stripe colors that you select, and are painted in Paris upon ordering. Clockwise left to right: Gwyneth Paltrow, Hollister Hovey’s custom made tote, Tote spotted on Madison Avenue.

Here are a few more ideas of what to monogram. Personalized stationary is always needed: striped monogram notecards | custom notecards by Rifle Paper Co with a hand-drawn letter, you choose the color!

Leather photo albums and diaries from Horchow.  The bright blue 2011 diary on the bottom right is such an amazing color.

Rubber stamps from Paperwink which I have and love

Lucite trays and paperweights from Iomoi. I’ve often thought these would make great gifts.

Pretty gold necklaces: custom lace monogram necklace | monogrammed disc necklace with diamond

I was lucky enough to receive a couple of these monogrammed items from Williams Sonoma as wedding gifts last year.

Have fun with your initials!
